I am looking at buying a 1980 corvette to modify and want to know what it would take to put a 2009 ZR1 suspension on a 1980 corvette. Thanks for any input.

My first thought is why?

1980 corvette can be bought for cheap. I'd be planning a pretty good build for the car and wondered the pains of making zr1 shocks and struts work. The cars both weigh close enough to the same.

Are the frames the same????
how about where they bolt up to?????
you may be dealing with steel VS aluminum as well....
not to mention the suspension in an 80 corvette is noncomputer-controlled...
the ZR-1 is....

It would take a tremendous amount of complex fabrication work to fit a C6 suspension under a C3, especially at the rear.

Unless you are an experienced fabricator, you'll be paying for hundreds of hours of fab work.

You'd be much better off going aftermarket with such a significant suspenson upgrade. Take a look at Ridetech's web site for C3 chassis enhancements.
