I changed my oil pump and everything was fine. Oil pressure was 70 when cold and around 45-50 when warm. I took the car out while it was cold and gave it some gas and the oil pressure gauge went from 70 to around 100. It stayed there for a while and then came dowh to 70 again. When I gave it some gas it went all the way around to 6 o'clock. The next day I went out and the gauge was still on 70. I turned the key to the on position and the gauge went all the way to 6 o'clock again. Could this be the sending unit. Thanks a miooion for any help.

It sounds like the gauge (or perhaps the circuit board). But try changing the sending unit first -- it's MUCH cheaper and easer -- so it's worth a shot.

My 81 was doing the same thing due to a leaking oil sending unit.

Thanks Page62 and VetteATv, I just went out and bought a new sending unit. It was only $ 17.00 so even if it is not the problem I'll have a new sending unit. Thanks for your help.
HAPPY EASTER
