Hello fellow C3 owners. I recently purchased a 1981 Vette, black exterior with gray/silver interior. I am looking for a factory steering wheel. It currently has an aftermarket steering wheel and I want to make it as original as possible. Any used, good shape gray steering wheels out there?

They occasionally pop up on eBay or you can order new reproduction. The leather can be dyed, so actual color should not hold you back from buying a good, used wheel if you run across one.

:w Berry,

You probably know this, but it never hurts to hear it again ;)

The 1980 - 1982 Steering wheels have the steel portion of the steering wheel painted Black.

If memory serves me correctly, the 1978 & 79 will fit, but are brushed aluminum color centers, which can be painted black ;)

I have seen the Steering wheels on Ebay, used ones, not in the best of condition for around $50 and the reproduction ones for somewhere around $300 or so. I don't know what folks like Mid America or others charge for a re-wrap of your original steering wheel.

I sent my to a friend in Missouri back in 1999 as I recall it was around $130 for the shipping and wrap. Sorry to say Ole Steve (SS Auto Sports) ain't doing much in the Corvette Field any longer..

Good Luck which ever way you go..
