After replacing the fuse, the cruise control came back, but the power mirrors didn't. The schematic from AllPro shows that there is some sort of 2 motor X-Y axis device inside the mirrors... am I reading this right?

Does anyone have any experience with these that could tell me where there are any other connectors besides in the doors and which way would be the best to trace this out?

Can you hear the mirror motor running?
Are both mirrors affected?
If the motors run then there is a "crossbar" thingy that holds the mirror to the motor drive.
If the motors don't run then try repeatedly pushing the mirror buttons, they could be dirty, also the selector switch (L/R) may be fouled.
The entire mirror control panel can be removed and checked or replaced, It's a little PITA but not too bad.

I can't hear the motors running and both mirrors are non-op. I'm starting to think that there's a connector(s) thats loose somewhere. Here's the schematic I found:

Good diagram. If the cruise is working, and both mirrors are affected then the problem is most likely the adjusting switch, or connections thereto. My selector switch is a 3-position rocker on top of the console panel - senter off. It could also be the selector.
I suggest you remove the console top plate and check connections.
If you have a voltmeter get some alligator clips and stick a pin in the relevant wires and check voltage in connections.

If the trunion bar was broken the mirror glass would be flopping around and hanging out of the shell. If you cannot hear the motors in the shell running when you manipulate the control switch/lever then do as Tony suggest and look at the selector and control switches. If there is power leaving the mirror guide control, there is only one connection that I know of inside the door panel but thats not likely the problem. Not both sides.
The mirrors operate with a motor pak inside the shell behind the glass that uses a screw type stud to run in/out the X & Y axis. The stud rest inside a revolving nut, which pulls/pushes each axis. The trunion bar holds the glass yet allows both axis movement. Again, if ANY of this were broken the motor would still run and be heard.

Thanks for helping me narrow things down....I'm checking the console controls tomorrow.

Do you know if the mirrors share a ground with the cruise control? If they don't, I'd check the ground since, according to your schematic, it's common to both mirrors.

Had the same problem on my '84. All my switches and connectors were okay, but the motors still wouldn't run. Those little motors are in a very hostile environment . . . outside the car. Age, rain, car washing, dirt, cold, all take their toll. I had to get some thin oil into the bearings to get them freed up. Push the mirror all one way to get at the screws. There are ratchets in there to let you move the mirror manually. Don't just yank the mirrors out of their trunion joints, or you'll end up with sloppy mounting!

I was in Havasu last week. Saw a really nice red C-4. Was that you, djsroknrol? Wasn't driving the 'vette, so didn't wave! Should have waved anyway!
