Yes another starting problem. Im sure you guys have heard hundreds of these but I got another odd one I need your help so here it goes....

I have a 84 L83 that had a 4+3.. Blew up the 4+3 and put in a Richmond 6 speed. With that said, a few weeks ago I began to have a problem starting. First time it occured I was 3 days from leaving town in May. I came out to my car at a store and I push in the clutch, turn the key and nothing. Gagues were on battery was good radio was working. Pop the clutch and get it home. First thought ...starter. Put in a new starter, worked for a few days fine.

Leave on my road trip and find out it wont start when the car is warm. Get home do some research and replace the starter again, with a GM starter this time, which still doesnt fix it.

Do more research and replace the clutch starter switch, on clutch pedal, and some relay for the factory alarm system that controls keeping it from starting when alarm is set off.

Still doing it. When the car is warmed up I push the clutch and turn the key and get nothing.

Then sometimes but not always, I can disconect the clutch safety switch I can ground the connection and sometimes it will start but not always. Other times I just pop the clutch or let it cool down.

Any other ideas on what it could be, any info would be helpful.

Thanks

Won't start

Had same problem on an 86. The ignition switch was bad. It was not allowing the radio frequency to go through the circuit from the key, thus the computer would not start the car. It sounds like something is wrong in the alarm circuit.

Thanks for the info.

Ive been playin with it lately and did some testing. I drove it around to get it into a condition where it would not start.

When it wouldnt start my friend pushed the clutch and turned the key to start. I put a volt meter on the wire that sends power to starter and only had 7.3 volts at the wire when it should be starting.

So its either the ignition switch or a bad wire between the theft det relay and the starter.

The clutch start switch has 12-13 volts goin through it when key is in start position.

Still tryin to find this prob out.:hb :hb
