just getting involved with rebuilding stock l 98 engine I would like to change to a mild perfomance cam and possibly flat top pistons anyone with any experience with this i could use all the help i can get I also want to keep stpock computer and TPI unit thanks Specs on stock cam and perfomance cam would be appreciated just looking for a few more horses

looks like you need the 3. 73 axel to run this cam think i only have the 3.07 i guess i would have to change rear to use this piece. thanks

That is a suggestion...I have 3:07 in my 85 and it really does not make a difference that i can see. Actually ask 69MYWAy...he is the one that turned me onto the cam. I also added 1.52 comp cam roller rockers. New push rods, I did not replace the springs as they also suggest. The cam did make a noticable difference.

What's the ballpark price for that cam?

What are the advantages of flat top pistons? And disadvantages?

L98's are tough to mod, just because most mods for the L98 tend to shift the power curve up, and most L98 owners like the low end torque. I have seen many people mod L98's with a result that the owner didn't like, or a result similar to LT1 numbers. I have even seen L98 owners keep their cars and mod them, instead of buying LT1 cars, just to find that their mods made their L98 act like LT1's..... to make a long story short, whatever mod you do to your L98, research is key, along with a strong understanding of what power you want out of your engine

Last time I checked it was 180.00 for the cam and lifters...plus some odds and ends.
I have done extensive research and the mods I have added is a port and polished, intake, runners, plenum, airfoil. 52mm throttle body. Complete Accel ignition with 8.8 mm wires with Bosch +4 plugs. Cam,2040 Crane, roller rockers(1.52) headers and complete stainless 2.5" exhaust with free flow cat and Borla mufflers. The tranny has been gone through and has Kevlar everything with shift kit and 2500 stall. Car runs like a banshee. I am not done yet. But soon I will supply the numbers for the engine...

Most of the mods were done after reading every thread on this site as possible. What better way to squeeze power out of an L-98 then the tried and proven ways from the folks at CAC. I don't need any other site to supply me with research then right here at CAC...
