1985 Corvette Dash Cluster

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what my problem with my gauge cluster is. All three screens do not function properly, when i start the car up some of the info will flash, for example the speedometer will put out a number and some bars will be filled, but any info that does come up is false, or illegible. They will stay like that, without any backlight, until i turn the car off. One wierd thing about it is if that i play with the steering wheel tilt control, the info on the gauges flash. Any Ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

1985 Dash Cluster

Had a simular problem with my 85 Vette dash, mine was what they call a solar burn out effect, had to have it replaced, they are llike hens teeth and quite costly. I suspect you have a bad ground or are have a failure in the components. A year ago there were several threads on the 85 dash cluster, you might check back on those articles. If I can be of further help, let me know. Doc

Yeah i dug through the archives trying to find a similar problem. And I've tried resoldering, cleaning the connections and changing bulbs. I guess my next step is to check the two grounds. And if that doesn't work, send for a rebuilt cluster. I am probably going to order one from http://www.corvettedashclusterservice.com . Anyone have experience with them?

The problem was the wiring harness. The connections must have been corroded. I cleaned those and it fired right up. Man its beautiful
