I have a 1986 conv. vin # 1G1yy6786G5906301

I took off the gas lid cover to clean it and found these numbers;;;
06480
9-11-86-3
does anyone know what they stand for???? I have the VATS system but they don't match up to that either..
The numbers are etched into the fiberglass
thanks

Hard to say what the numbers mean. The 9-11-86 looks like a date format; the VIN of your car makes it an late production convertible made towards the end of the model year run. The last 5 digits of the VIN is a sequential build number. The "9" in front of the build sequence denotes verts.

Bookmark this page as it the same as the text file: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/tech/rpo/8496rpo.html

Also look here: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/specs/1986/index.html for some detailed information about 86's. Check out the "Production and Performance Revies" link for infor about options and their costs.

[Thanks fx3 for the codes....I still don't see a relationship between the codes and my numbers..I also was wondering if other c4's have the same number setup..In the same location under the gas lid cover..]I'm the second owner of this vette and the orignal owner says he didn't know the numbers were there.. the only thing I can thik of it is some kind of date with maybe a shift code for the assemblers... I just find this to be very strange....
Thanks to you all and save the wave
