I am presently using the factory dual exhaust with the catalytic converters gutted, and Flowmaster mufflers. I'm also running a 180 thermostat and a coolant sensor that turns the fans on at 180. Soon I would like to rebuild the engine with a moderate Comp Cams camshaft and some intake upgrades along with a valve job, rings, bearings, etc.

Am I to believe I will need a custom computer chip that costs nearly 400 bucks for this??!! That's what Summit charges, and it's nuts!!

Any alternatives?

Thanks,
vettebob

Performance chip

Hi Bob, Call Brian Harris over at TBICHIPS/ Harris Performance, tell him what your plans are and he'll lead you down the right path for about $160. His number is 336-471-2827, web site is www.TBICHiPs.com. Tell him your mods and intentions and he'll take it from there. Did wonders for my mods!
Good Luck! I continued modifications over the winter, spoke with him again and he said send the chip back and he reflashed it to reflect the new mods for $50.

Every engine is different, even those that are 'exacty' the same. While mail order chips will be an improvement, to maximize the results of your work, only a custom chip will. Part of the problem (and expense) is that the earlier C4 chips could not be redone in real time, so there is plenty of R&R time.

Saving a couple hundred bucks may not, in the long run. Got that tee shirt! :w
