I have a1987 Corvette Convertible with a drivers side head light problem. Upon switching off the headlights there is a continues attempt to activate the headlight with a sound of gears being striped and the light wants to move a little, to stop this noise and movement I pull out the headlight switch just a little and it stops the action. It leaves the headlight open about one inch. Do I have switch or headlight activator problem. Upon shutting off/on the lights, there is no problem they open and close, only a problem upon closing.:bash

seems to be a common problem. most likely the gears are ready to turn back to dust. there's lots of posts here on that very problem. use the search feature. you can find the replacement gears at mid-america, ecklers, or corvette america for about $15 a pair including s&h. figure 2-3 hours laying on the tire for the fix. good luck.:D

really easier to unplug the elec connectors, remove (4) 10mm nuts (2 each side mount) and (2) 10mm hex head screws (front edge of u-bracket) and take the whole assy to your workbench...visually center the assy in the hood opening when re-installing - the mounting holes in the u-bracket are oversized to allow adjustment.
