Help! 1988 automatic transmission

1988 automatic transmission drives ok in 1st and 2nd gears but when i go to put into drive or overdrive the gearing drives like its in neutral please any suggestions

Overhaul time, your symptoms suggest a failed 3/4 clutch pack, the weakest element in the 700R4, sorry.
