B2K w/ an Automatic
i-5.JPG

Was@this originally an automatic?

Car looks pretty nice, but:

1. Was this originally an automatic car (based on the Callaway serial number)?
2. Can the automatic live reliably under the massive extra torque of the twin turbo engine?
3. Are the 0-60 times comparable for an automatic and a manual car?
4. Did Callaway do anything to beef up the GM automatic transmission?

Any automatic owners out there with good or bad experiences?

Thanks

Steve, Joanne would have the data tied to the car (if it was an original automatic or not) but I assume it is original.
Automatic is a Turbo 400 w/ a Gear Vendors external overdrive added to the tail - stronger than an Ox ;)
The trans option was 4500 dollars and was far stronger than a 700r4 that it replaced :D
...here is a link to the performance database here at :CAC It shows a slight edge for the stick cars, but not much ;)

Hope this helps :m

Is the automatic the limiting factor on the top speed of this car?....What is the current market.. price wise on this car..? ..

Callaway Auto

Hi Guys,

This car is #123 of 124 built in 88! It's a true automatic car from callaway. Fair market value for would be low to mid 30's.!!!!!

Whats your price range if you don't mind me asking?

BTW you misspelled CallAway in your ownership line. ;)

Oops. Thanks for pointing that out. We're asking around $25,000. We have more pictures of it also (if you're interested).

I wish I was, but unfortunately Im about to be in a selling situation myself. :(

Thats a nice car and a smokin deal!

Kevin, Welcome to the Callaway forum at the :CAC
I posted a few links about your car - one awhile ago and then a recent one too :)
Hope someone at the auction picks it up, as it is one CLEAN looking car - and a Convertible to boot :upthumbs

Good luck w/ the sale - You can always bring it out to Carlisle in Aug if you still have it (but at your price I doubt it will last long on the market :D )

Just a note for those interested. I put a th400/Gear Vendors combo in my car last year. It is about the strongest tranny you could put in your car, I'm told anyhow. It works great for autocrossing too. I thought I remember hearing that this option on a B2K was higher than $4500 tho. Maybe I got some bad info there.

Thanks for the input on the sheer strength of these automatics :m

My window sticker from Callaway shows:
(optional) Turbo Hydra-matic 400 Automatic With Laycock Overdrive ($4,500.00)
However, mine is equipped w/ the ZF 6Speed and the box remained un-checked :Steer
