Anybody familiar with resolving spark knock at moderate load. Vette other wise runs great. \\

PS...don't hear the knock when engine is cool

Knock sensor,ESC module, octane, timing, fuel delivery are all common fixes. Get your hands on a GM service manual and go through the diagnostics. It'll save you $$$ on what you don't need.:w

My 87 suffers from spark knock when the engine reaches over 200 degrees. I bought the car in Jan. of this year and other than idling a little rough it ran fine. I tuned it up in June and found out the timing was off a little so I reset the timing and had no problems until the summertime heat and the car began to ping. The MAF sensor went bad which caused a major pinging problem but since replacing the MAF sensor the car only pings above 200 degrees. Not owning the car last summer I don't know if it was a previous problem or not. It gets frustrating. I put a new knock sensor in it and it still pings when hot so last week I bought a digital tester so I can check all the electronics that may cause this. I don't know if this a common occurence with TPI vettes but I'm sure other CAC members can help out. I'm going to go with a 180 thermostat as soon as I get a new chip and I believe it should help some.
