I have a memory of reading (possibly from this forum) that there were 50-60 pre-production ZR-1's made that used the 89 type wheels in 9.5" Front, and 11" rear, wheels. I like my 89's wheels but I want to add flares and 11" wheels in the rear. Can anyone verify that they were actually made in 11" width at all, and point me in a direction to get them ?
(I've never heard a nockname for the 89 wheels like "sawblade" for later ones.)
TIA for any comments

I seen some on ebay a year ago or longer .They are very hard to come by and the ones I saw were very expensive.I think he was wanting 1500 for the two.

My car has 89 style 11" wheels in the rear. For these wheels there is no need for flares, they fit neatly inside the wheel well just like the stock 9.5". I keep tabs on ebay too, and I remember seeing these wheels a couple of times over the last five years or so.

These are rare, been looking as well.

Hey Tyrel exactly where do you live??? :D ;)

hi there guys,
you are proberely not wanting to do this ,but i got my 9.5" directional rims widedned to 11' on the rears bye a wheel engineering company!
looks great, the 315 mm tyres looks much wider now plus i dont need to use flares that look like they dont belong there!
i got a spare set of rims and took them along with my other two rims and then the cut and re weleded the inner part of rims and was completly computerised welded inside & out!
balanced and fit lovely!
as you state the zr1 11" wide rims "are as rare as hens teeth"
cheers

As an original owner of an 89, I have never considered that for a name, nor do I think it really fits.

Intricate 12-slot wheel was how thery were described, vs. the 16" 1988 base 6-slot wheels when the 17"s were an option for that year.

Ohh well... :ugh
