[TD="width: 100%"]I tried searching the forums to see if there was already an answer to this question, but I can't find my exact scenario.

When I switch on the headlights the passenger side only opens half way. I can manually turn it to the open position, but it doesn't stay.

When I switch the lights off, it closes fine.

I have seen articles that describe problems with the bushings or the gears, does anyone know which one will fix this?

Thanks,

Paul

Had the exact same problem with my 88 and they were the plastic bushings inside the motor. Do a search and you will probably find hundreds of thread on how to change them.

Good luck.

Almost certainly bushes. Good idea to replace both. Your first one may well seem tricky but once you get the hang of it.........Roger.

I had to replace those bushings in 1 of my headlights last year.Mid America motorworks sells them for under $10.00. It took me about 2 hours. If you do it yourself make sure the manual headlight adjuster wheel under the hood is completely closed with your headlight switch off.The toughest part of the job is extracting the roll-pin.Dont disassemble the motor itself like I did, theres no need. You'll find a small pile of what looks like small white BB's when you get to the gear with the "bushings".After I replaced them(3) the light opened and closed like new!:thumb:thumb
