Hello all!

Quick question-1992 Convertible, just turned 20K miles (yes for real), drives great except during first application of the brake pedal (almost every time) pedal travels further and feels just a tiny bit soft. Let up on the pedal and apply the brake again and it is noticably firmer. Brakes have been bled twice and has fresh fluid. Pads and rotors are all original with no shakes, brakes fine and stays straight. Possible master cyl going bad?

I was given an opinion that it might be a bad wheel bearing but I find that hard to believe in a car with 20K miles and all original. Car has been extremely well maintained (never driven in the rain). I am the second owner as of May 08 and I do NOT beat on it.

Not really sure what to do if anything as it drives great (for a C4). Normal ops maybe?? :)

*Most low brake pedal problems are caused by air in the hydraulic system

Check for vacuum leak in the brake booster, and hose.
Have you checked the rubber brake hoses

Based on your description here is what could be checked:

Leaking Brake Line or Connection

Leaking Piston Seal

Leaking Master Cylinder

**Air in the Brake System**

DOT-5 Brake Fluid instead of DOT-3 (Hopefully you're not using DOT-5)

Uneven Brake Lining Wear

I couldn't get all the air out of my system, and mine did the same thing. I noticed over time it will go away as the air moved to the top of the master cylinder.
