Ok Guys,

Need some help. Cruise in not working. First I checked the vacuum valve and like all others it needed replacing. Still no cruise operation afterwards. Next I checked the two brake switches at the brake pedal. Both are fine. I checked the wiring coming out of the switches with a test light to make sure the circuits opened and closed and all is working correctly. Next I checked with a test light to see if there is power coming to the cruise servo and there is no power coming into any of the wires. When the switch is turned on the selenoids do not click. No power to the servo. Next I checked the fuse and it is not blown, full power at the fuse block. Can someone shed some light on why I am not getting power to the Cruise Servo. Also my ASR is inop. Maybe something related here. Any input would be most helpfull. Thanks.

I am sorry I can't help you I was lurking around because I have the exact same problem on my 92.

I hope someone chimes in.

BamaVette,

Same happened to me when I first bought my car. I had to take the car to a shop for replacement of the antenna. My A.C. was not blowing from some of the louvers either. The guy replaced the antenna, and told me if the A.C. was not blowing through those louvers the cruise control most probably would not work either... Somehow same thingy was the problem. He replaced a small valve under the engine cover (passanger side black cover on the injectors) and both A.C. & cruise control started operating... I think it was the valve in the attached picture; not sure though.

Now this is a good mechanic in Turkey, believe it or not...

Cheers,

Selim

I wish I knew what that valve was called. I would go to the dealer and buy one... they can't be too expensive.

About $6 at the dealer. If it is bad it is likely broken, so a visual may clue you in. If you need me to I can get the part number and actual description later today. Parts guy should know what you want though, or you can point it out to him on the fiche viewer. Worst case you can show it to him. It is under the passenger side fuel rail cover towards the back. Can't miss it.

I have already replaced the valve under the rail cover. I do not have any power to the Cruise Serrvo. Valve Ok, Brake Switches Ok, Fuse Ok. Power to servo does not exist.

Guys don't get me wrong. I am not saying the valve is the problem. I only made a reference to what happened in my car. No power may be something else. If I were in your shoes and wanted to make an educated guess I would start with looking at the chassis wiring diagrams and see how power is supplied to the servo.

There are two people in this thread with what they indicate have symptoms of the same type problem. Justardnck inquired about the valve so don't feel bad. That reference to the valve may just help him out.

Not trying to hijack 92BamaVette here, rather just responding to a question.

Oh by no means are you hijacking me KopBet. I fully appreciate all the inpuit everyone has on the forum here. I am trying to trace down the wiring now. I have a feeling it is tied into the ASR because it does not work either. I just installed a new BCM and maybe something there is related also. I love my two vettes that I have, but they sure are a "Bugger" to work on sometimes. I have fixed all my problems just about, from input on this forum. Keep up the good work, there is alot of knowledge passed along here. Happy New Year everyone and I will keep you updated on what I find.

You say the ASR doesn't work. When you push the button on the dash does the ASR OFF light come on?

The EBTCM Electronic Brake Traction Control Module may do just what you describe affecting the ASR and the cruise control.

There is a cruise control cut-off relay behind the instrument panel that is controlled by the EBTCM module but I think that if that relay is activated the ASR active indicator should come on. May be worth looking at.

I believe that valve is both a check (one way) valve and a vacuum splitter. It is possible to install it backwards and lose the vacuum that is supposed to pass through it.
