I have been smelling a hot electrical smell when I push the A/C control head buttons that switch from Auto to Recirculate to Dash/Floor vents modes.
Has anybody seen this before? It started about a month ago and I thought it might have been a fluke due to outside air being drawn inside and the smell was from something other than the car.
Yesterday I just finished a long trip and when cycling these buttons (cause I smoke and want the smoke to leave the car under pressure hence the dash/floor button selections) I noticed the it repeatedly. Best I can tell the Dash/floor mode causes more outside air to be drawn in. Well everytime I pushed the recirc or auto buttons I got the smell for a few minutes.
Is this likely the Air Mix Valve Motor and if so how do you get to it? The FSM says it is (on page 201 figure 1) on top of the air plenum just to the left of recirculating vacuum actuator. Can this be accessed via the glove box? No fuses have blown in months and all else seems OK.
Am I barking up the wrong tree? Sure could use y'alls advise before tearing this apart.
