1994 Copper Coupe
Hello,
I'm a newbie to this site and I tried to do a search to see if I could find what the first day of production was for the '94. What I'm really after is what is the lowest serial # that anyone knows of for a copper coupe. Mine ends in 100259. As I understand from other posts this color was only shot for three days--I'm assuming the first three days of production? Thanks for any help.

Find a copy of Mike Antonick's Black Book for Corvette. He probably has the most accurate numbers referring to the Copper color.

You are right about BG only shooting that paint for a very short time. In fact, only three days of shooting that color. BG usually shoots one color for several Vettes at one time. Then they shoot another color for another several Vettes.

I remember hearing they had problems from the start with Copper. The paint on the front & rear bumpers just did not match the rest of the body as good as the body inspectors wanted.

By the time they decided to stop the color, 116 of the vehicles were already on their way to dealers. 92 coupes & 24 convertibles.

Sounds like you have one of those. Congratulations!

I know there's a couple in Phoenix AZ who own the only Copper Z07 manual. Their SN in the mid-450s. I doubt they were all built the first day, but I'll bet some where and I'll be there were a few, probably less than five, that were built during early production. How many of those escaped the crusher, I don't know but I do now the only Copper ZR-1 was crushed.

Copper did have big problems for the old paint shop at BG.

I've never seen one of them which had all panels matching, however, I've seen one or two where the mismatch was not real bad. The problem was the metallic.

Thanks,
The problem is the build sheet will only tell me what day my car was built. What I want to know is what was the first day of production for the '94 model year which as best I can tell is probably some time in Aug '93. Also if anyone has the info collected from teh copper regisstry that was done I would be very interested to see where mty serial # falls production wise. Thanks, Shawn

Understood, still might be worth contacting the NCM, someone there might be able to tell you when 94 production started, good luck. They are beautiful cars.
