Question: 1994 performance axle ratio

I have a 1994 with LT1 engine, with an option PERFORMANCE AXLE RATIO. On my build sheet it states a 3.07 ratio axle. What are specs of this axle? What does this mean?

The performance axle ratio for Auto trans was the 3.07 standard ratio was 2.59. It comes in the Dana 36 rear housing, which is not as stout as the standard trans Dana 44. The D36 is tough enough unless you really mod the engine, then you could have some trouble with it.

The 3.07 doesn't hurt your gas mileage much, but gives you a little more "punch" off the line.
