Ok all you guys out there...I am a female and I have a 1995 Corvette with automatic Transmission (base model). Sometimes (and it's happening more and more often) my instant miles per gallon readout will show a number for 15 seconds, then flashes "SYS" 3 times, then goes back to the number. It does this until I get where I'm going and park it. When I go to drive it again it may or may not do this. It doesn't matter if it's on instant miles per gallon, average miles per gallon, or miles left in the tank...it does it on all of them. I've had the car 16 months and it just started doing this a couple weeks ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Had that problem on a C4 I had and it turned out to be the battery. Clean/tighten connections on battery and see if that helps..if not, have the battery tested.

Agree with Otter,check your battery

When the IP flashes "SYS" that means the CCM (central control module) has sensed a problem. When it flashes, the fuel mileage info goes away because the CCM needs that space to display "SYS". It does not necessarily mean the fuel mileage functions are not working.

I agree with the posts above which suggest the first thing to do is make sure your battery is in good condition with clean connections. If there's any doubt about the battery condition, I'd have it load tested. Also, you want to make sure the charging system is functioning properly.

If you don't find a problem there, you need to move on to CCM diagnostics which can lead you to trouble with a number of different components in the car's electronics.

Do you normally do your own service work and do you have a Factory Service Manual?

ckray,hi another female here with a 92 vette.. I have the same issue with mine did you recently install an aftermarket stereo in the car? that is what my issue is cause there are open dimmer connections now that were connected with the factory stereo that are no longer connected with the aftermarket stereo. And also like the guys suggest check the battery and alternator, the guys here are great and very knowledgeable they helped me with my problem, good luck :)
