I recently had an accident in my 1995 Corvette. The body shop got a used hood that the specs said would fit a 1994 or 1995. They said that the replacement hood would not shut all the way. As it turns out, the original hood has a cutout over the alternator and the replacement hood did not. They cannot find out why there are two different Corvette-original hoods. Does anyone know why there are two different hoods for the 1994-1995 Corvette that are identical on the top, but one has a cutout over the alternator?

Moderator or Admin, Please move this thread to the C4 general discussion section.. :D

I think the previous owner carved up the hood when a new alternator was installed. Junk, what do you think?

I think they got a earlier model C4 hood!!:thumb
Actually there were 3 different hoods from 84-96!! 84 was by it's self,85-87,88-96,Each one a better Design and Stronger where needed!!:thumb:thumbPersonally,I wouldn't let them put a earlier model hood on my car,;shrugThe Newer Hood is Better and Stronger!:thumb:thumb:thumb
The later model C4 hoods are engineered to fit the earlier model cars, but the earlier hoods would have to be modified some and possibly need some of the earlier hardware to fit the later model cars!!:thumb:thumb:thumb:thumb

Kinda like the Targa Tops (3 designs)and Doors (3 designs)!!:thumb:thumb:thumb:thumb:thumb

All of the Older designed Hoods can be interchanged to a later model car,But they may have to be modified or some of the older Hardware used to make it work!!;)

One thing is for certain though, these cars can sure make you...:drink:chuckle

Yes they will, but after driving a mile or so down the road, you will completely forget about the money you spent on the repair! :D
