1996 LT-4 Collectors Edition
Just purchased a pristine CE, and was wondering if this model came fully optioned, or was there options that could be added? It has both tops. Is there a way that I can find out from vin# or any other source?
Thanks Larry;help

Congrats on the new ride, Larry. :w

Check out our 1996 Model Center. You can decode the VIN there, though the VIN alone will not tell you much other than the car is an LT4 coupe and what build number it is.

There is a sticker on the car (in the glove box I think?) that has all the options the car was built with. Once you find that, you can cross reference the RPO codes with what is in the Model Center. Also, if you want a build sheet and window sticker, the National Corvette Museum can make one.

Larry......LT4Man will be along shortly and can give you answers to all your questions. He knows the CE backwards and forwards. You might want to read his profile and all of his posts. That'll give you some additional information which will be useful as you get to know the car.

Congratulations on finding the car. It's a keeper.

Once you review your RPO codes, the site below has great breakdowns on numbers/codes:

See “RPO Codes”, then select “1996”.

The “Production #’s has even more breakdowns that are specific to body color/CE/ GS.

The collestors edition was an option (Z15) just like the LT4. It doesnt mean the car came with every available option - but there were just a few other options anyway. Like the Z51 suspension package. The F45 selective real time dampining etc etc.

You option codes are located under the storage comaprtment lid in the rear hatch area (where the jack is located)

Congratulations on your purchase! You will have lots of fun with that particular automobile! :upthumbs

There were several options available along with RPO Z15. Things like Electronic Air Conditioning, 1 or 2 Removable Tops, Low Tire Pressure Warning System, Spare Tire Delete, Extended Mobility Tires, Suspension and Tires.

My RPO codes are located on the bottom of the passenger side cargo compartment door.

Of course, all this information relates to a Collector Edition Coupe!

I knew there was a sticker somewhere that had the codes, and the glove box didn't seem quite right. :ohnoes

After reading your post, warren, it jogged my memory, I believe you are correct. I seem to recall the RPO codes being on the storage compartment lid in my '96 GS.

Collector Edition

Thank you everyone, I will try everything you guys have told me. This Vette is nice looking, and much faster than I thought it showed in the specifications. My past vetts were 1962, 327 340hp, 1966 327, 350hp coupe, and a 1978, L82 225 hp , all were new. It has been 22 years since my last one and this seems very fast, but of course it has been awhile since the 1966. Thanks again, Larry:beer

Jane Ann I don't know how to put a picture in any computor. Would like to but I am at a loss how to. Thanks anyway it is a sweet car. Larry:w

Larry, do you have a digital camera? If so, have you put your pictures onto your computer? These are the first two questions that need to be answered. If the answers to these questions are appropriate then we can proceed.

Ah, Larry, Warren, LT4man (under your Avitar) and others, just for the record, that would be "Collector Edition" not Collectors :ugh...............and a very nice Vette if I do say so myself...congrats Larry!

:L RG, just for the record, that would be Avatar. ;)

It's okay... around here we don't worry much about exact model names or spelling.

Boy, Avatar sure caught your eye...good one! :upthumbs Oh, just for the record, if I said I slipped that in to see if the Moderators were as sharp as they normally are on this board, would you believe me? :eyerole Ok then, I'll take that as a no.

I'll meet you half way. Model names carry a little more weight than spelling. Care for a Grande Sport with double cream and sugar? ;)
