I have a '97 C5 that is a daily driver - recently (yesterday) when I started the car all the guages go through their normal configuration, that is all but the fuel guage. It stuck itself past the "full" mark, which I know is not accurate because I only had about 2/3rds of a tank. When the ignition is turned off it returns to the normal "empty" setting, but when the ignition is turned on it goes right back over to the past "full" mark. Any ideas?:confused

This is an issue that has been discussed at length in earlier threads. There is a reprogramming procedure that can be done by the dealer that may help the situation. It is also a good idea to use only "top tier" gasolines and/or to use some techron once in a while. If you go to the search function, then go to advanced search, plug in gas gauge as the key word, and select the C5 forums to search, you will get quite a few hits. I found these, for example:

http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12017

See if those threads help you or not. Or try the search function yourself.

Thank you Thank you Thank you :)- I had looked at the c5 fuel guage forums, but did not see any commonality to my problem and was beginning to think that I had sending unit problems. The links that you gave helped a lot. Thanks again - BTW - very clever pun on Darth:L

I had that problem with my 2000 and treat my gasoline once or twice a year with techron. The problem disappeared after the first treatment with techron 6 years ago and hasn't returned. I also only use top tier gasoline. That was good info DRTH gave you. Just wanted to comfirm with my success doing the same thing. Good luck.
