1997 coupe

Hi All!
As a previous owner of a 89 coupe, I have made the leap of faith to a 97 !!!!! Now the questions:
1. When in the Automatic Mode of operation for the Climate control.Should the LED's be lite on the AC and the circulate buttons? (Even in the late fall when outside temps are close to freezing) Would the AC not be locked out in cold weather?

2. I have the 6 speed trany...(Love it, had the auto in the 89.)
Is it normal to have a "Rattle" when the clutch is released and you pull away in first gear. It does not come from the block, it sounds more clutch related.

3. What would be the average 1/4 mile times for a stock 97? What mods would be reasonable for the normal "Home" garage Mech.?

Nice 97 is obviously the best year. You will notice the climate control thing to be a little strange and it is normal for the buttons to cycle. Hang on to ur 97 its an extremely low production year. First things first i would get the steering column lock thing fixed. It happened to me 2 times to the tune of 600 dollars. You can try a bypass or have the service bulletin performed. I had to have my whole steering column motor replaced. Just be aware this does happen. I wish you the best of luck with your 97!

Welcome to the CAC!

Yes, I believe that the AC and circulate lights being on is normal-- I don't think "AC" in our climate control systems is merely limited to cold air. I think that this light being on simply means that the air is being, well, "conditioned" in some way other than simply allowing it to vent through from the outside.

The transmission rattle is normal. Do a search of this forum for "clutch rattle" or "transmission rattle", and you'll find several threads about it.

As for the 1/4 mile stuff, I'm afraid I'm not much help there. Enjoy your Vette and your mods, though!
