I left this out of my last thread but the plus side of E-bay is that you see the real selling price when sold.
It is not uncommon for a person to inflate his buying or selling prices for his or her ego.
When a person asks me what l paid or sold a car for l never answer them because no matter what you were paid or had to pay they always have a comment that they did better.
The only time l will tell somebody is if they are looking or selling around the same time that l struck my deal. And if l picked it up on Auction l would just add a few thousand.

I bought my car on Ebay, and the car was everything it was advertised to be, and more. The guy I purchased it from was in Oregon, and I spoke to him on the phone about the car several times. Real nice guy, who does a lot of business on Ebay. In fact, he basically conducts (he did anyway) his business on Ebay, and since he owns a legitimate business, I was also able to make a few phone calls to check him out. The guy bent over backwards for me during and AFTER the sale.
I had the car shipped in and enclosed carrier via Dependable Auto Shippers, and when the car finally arrived, the guy at the receiving center said "your car arrived this afternoon, and I was wondering when we could make arrangements to drop it off....dude, that's one really nice car, I mean REALLY nice!" Gotta admit, that really took some pressure off because I hadn't seen the car. I bought it on trust, and background checks.
The guy that works on my car is very well known in the corvette restoration business (Ron's Auto Service, Fitchburg, MA). He's told me time and again what an awesome resto was done on my car....one of the best he's seen. And his employees have told me the same. Last year he said "you stole it" when I told him what I paid, and he says it's worth almost double what I bought it for. He told me to hold off on another appraisal until this year, so we'll see what it's appraised at. Two years ago the appraisal came in several thousand above what I paid for the car. One thing I might add though is that I bought the car in early January, which is a good time to buy.
Would I buy from Ebay again? I don't know. My stomache was in knots until the day I spoke with the guy from dependable auto shippers. I'd definitely go see what I was buying, which I nearly did...several times. But there are deals on Ebay. Sorry for rambling. -John
