Help! 1998 corvette remote fob

It's not completely clear from your post whether you mean that you changed the batteries in the fob or the car. If the latter, when battery power is lost the car does not recognize the fobs until they are "re-synchronized." Your Owner's Manual should give more details on this, but it largely boils down to holding the "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" buttons on the fob down at the same time until the horn chirps (should take about 10 seconds). Full-on reprogramming of the fobs should not be required.

I don't know if the same situation arises when the batteries in the fob(s) are changed, but trying to re-synchronize the fob(s) certainly couldn't hurt your situation. Again, full-on reprogramming should not be required. I know that the fobs on my '98 (which differ from those on my '04) will seemingly stop 'talking' to the car if they sit unused for a long time, but re-synchronizing them to the car makes them happy. Go figure... ;shrug Good luck!
