1st C6 mods after I get mine are going to be:

1)3.73 or 4.10 gears
2)Air Filter
3)Exhaust

That sounds about like the first three any car guy who buys a new car has in mind. Well maybe swap the gears for an ecu remap in some cases.

2 and 3 sound great! But not being too smart on vehicle gearing, can someone explain what will be gained/lost by putting in these ratios? How does the Z51 gearing compare?

The 3.73 and 4.10 gears are the final ratio in the rear axle. This is different from the ratio associated with each gear in the transmission. The stock rear gear for the 6-speed is 3.42. The 3.73 or 4.10 gears will give quicker acceleration per gear. Though if geared too high first gear becomes useless because it revs too fast. 4.10 would probably be as high as you want to go. This will also affect gas mileage as well.

With a Z51 suspension, I believe the six speed manual will be a M12 geared tranny.

Probably best to go with 3.90's.

Good move.

Good luck

JB

Thanks for the info, sounds like a good upgrade.

I'll paint the brake calipers red too along with the intake and exhaust upgrades. If someone makes a Z06 style mesh grill for the air scoop area, I might consider throwing that in if it looks good. It may cover up the "eggcrate" but I think that may look better.

Black ATS-DTM Comp. 2000 wheels, Calipers painted Brembo Copper, slightly darker headlight cover tint, MOMO EVOLUTION steering wheel, Billet aluminum shift gate for center console.

On a light Silver C6. . . . .;worship ;worship ;worship ;worship

I thought that the discs and wheels were 1" larger than the C5. The 2000 wheels may not fit.

cover that crappy grill with some stainless steel screen..................

chech out tires.com
You can get them in both 18" and 19" sizes, I'm not sure if the backspacing is right.

I just put in my order for a set for me beastly Volvo. . .$2099 :eek :eek

I had been savin' up since mid-april, I figure I can transfer them over to my vette when the time comes. . . .(never :hb )

The question I bring up is whether the disc brakes will fit in a smaller wheel. If they do, great. But I thought that the disc size was larger, so that issue would have to be examined.

You guys are blowing dust. It will be at least 6 months to a year before the aftermarket has a handle on the C6. Everything has changed . Enjoy your new C6 for a while it will be state of the art. You will blowoff the most of the Z06's.

I agree redvett, but I did not say when I would do the first mods. I just said that those would be my first mods.

When does Chevy ship out cars to the big aftermarket manufacturers to develop products?
