84 Brown coupe
Hello. Just bought a 2 tone brown 84 coupe 60k miles. I've been getting beat up by "buddies" for buying a crossfire but I don't care. I tell em it's still a vette so how bad can it be? I love it so far. Great site.

Welcome aboard and congrats on the first Corvette! The 84 hasn't gotten much respect since it first came out, but I would say it was quite the milestone car. The performance was pretty impressive in it's day and there are those here on the forum that have them running pretty well, even by today's standards.

You are right, it's a Corvette and one that you can enjoy a long time. Again, welcome aboard and post some pictures when you have the opportunity. :beer

Welcome

Congrats on your purchase. Your friends are showing their ignorance. The crossfire can be alot of fun in a street car. It's simple to work on and was designed to make alot of low and mid-range torque. The over all performance is better than many expect by just looking at the hp spec. Did you know your suspension is stiffer than any of the other C4's. An 84 feels great on a curve. Enjoy.

Welcome to CAC!!!!!
enjoy!!!

Welcome - too bad you couldn't have joined us in Effingham last week!

Welcome and I hope you enjoy your C-4.

I grew up in Manteno, just to the north of you, on the family farm. Still have family in the area so I am up there frequently. In fact I'll be up there this weekend. We're going to the NCCC convention on Sunday.

Welcome to the forum DeLong. :w Enjoy your Corvette.

Thank you for all the replies. I'm no ace mechanic but I get by. I'm thinking some shocks for sure and it looks like intake gaskets in the near future. I'm a looking for a factory service manual on eBay before I mess with that intake!

Welcome to the CAC! :upthumbs

Now that you are making new friends here, you might seriously think about replacing your "buddies". The 84 is a great car. And a Vette to boot! They might be just a little jealous of your recent acquisition. :)

Now get out there and SAVE the WAVE! :w

To answer your question, the National Council of Corvette Clubs is having their annual convention in Tinley Park this year. Their car show is on Sunday, June 19. I believe it is at the Metra parking lot on the north side of the tracks. 173rd and Oak Park if I remember right. I don't have the information here at work. There should be a lot of nice Vettes. I think the show starts around 12:30 or 1:00 pm. Only about 30 minutes north of you. Their website is www.corvettesnccc.org if you want more information. Our club and two others are helping with the parking for the show.
