While it's true that having only two exhaust tips doesn't fill up the back quite as much, trust me when I tell you these deliver a nice growl.

They do sound quite nice. I listened to them all the way from Limon, Colorado to Bowling Green:lou

Scott,
And here Bill continues to complain about that one stupid incident where I, er, pressed the gas pedal a bit on the on-ramp to catch up to caravan after getting caught at a light. See, you kept up and heard the Borlas, what's Bill's complaint? :L

Those Borlas do sound nice, don't they? Dave commented over the radio as we got caught in the remants of Tropical Storm Alaine on the way back that they actually sounded louder in the rain. Echo effect, I guess. Good thing I always drive the posted speed limit, because I'd have a job hiding that noise from the local LEO's. Note for Law Enforcement folks- the real speeders drive YELLOW Corvettes. I can provide email addresses if necessary. :D

Hi Patrick -

Think of how they would be talking about me in the coupe...with my new "Billy Bobbed" exhaust system...enjoy a link to the BBPE demo video....

I have included footage of a normal conversation at 80mph, a rev at the rear, and a kick-down to passing gear and winding out on the highway. (No laws were harmed in the making of this video).

I prefer a four tip system, and I think the best looking one is the Tigershark look from Corsa. If I were buying, I would buy the twin-tip Borlas, because looks are one thing, sound and performance and weight are quite another....

best regards -

I have the two tip Borlas.

Mind you, those are big ports on the exhause for mine (I'll post a pic when I get home from work tonight.) Very nice, healthy, throaty exhaust note with the two tips. I get a lot of compliments on it, and more than a few nasty looks from blue-haired grandmotherly types who think I'm some sort of hoodlum.

Hi Patrick -

Patrick the Hoodlum! LOL Not the guy I met....

Ahem.... :)

Thanks for the pics everyone. I really think I may go the two tip route, especially when considering cost and weight. Although I think the 4 tips really do look better, I prefer function over form, so it will probably be two tips for me (the hundee I save will almost buy half of my X-pipe to go with it).

Is that larger than 4"?

I went with 4 oval Borlas. Had them done at Carlisle. I love them!

I know a little Latin, but please refresh me on the meaning of vacui?

horror vacui - The compulsion to make marks in every space. Horror vacui is indicated by a crowded design. In Latin, it is literally, "fear of empty space"

Vacui, root word vacuus, meaning nothingness or empty. (Blond jokes often refer to the vacuous nature of the person with the blond hair.) From vacuus, we get "vacuum" which, before Mr. Hoover's invention, referred to a state of emptiness or blankness.

While I appreciate the horror vacui philosophy (as I have a two-tip exhaust), advocates for four tips will argue the old line that nature abhors a vacuum. I guess we can add the two-tip/four tip debate to the list of unresolveable Corvette debates (automatic vs. six speed, Zaino vs. Meguiars, Coupe vs. Convertible, etc.) It all comes down to personal preference.

What a forum. We go from a Less Filling / Sounds Great debate (2 vs 4), to a lesson in Latin. Vettes must have the most eclectic driver base in the world. :D

And art history:

Horror Vacui

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Many paintings by Outsider Artist Adolf Wölfli contain space filled with writing or musical notation

In visual art, horror vacui (a fear of empty spaces) is the filling of the entire surface of an artwork with ornamental details, figures, shapes, lines and anything else the artist might envision. It may be considered the opposite of minimalism.

Many examples of horror vacui in art come from, or are influenced by, the mentally unstable.......

=========

This is in no way to suggest that because you have four tips you are mentally unstable.

"This is in no way to suggest that because you have four tips you are mentally unstable."

OK, I'm getting a little nervous now.... <sneaking out back door>

It just goes to show you can learn something new every day..... although here in rural Missouri, if you know things about art, etc., people assume you are "light in the loafers".

Anyway, it still looks like two tips for me (same sound, lighter weight, less money).
