I have a 2001 C5 coupe. When you fill the fuel tank and begin driving the fuel gage will go to zero randomly if the tank is registering 1/2 a tank or fuller. Does not happen when below 1/2. The fault can be result at anytime through the DIC. Any suggestion other than replace the sending units?

Common problem, stems from the sulfur in the gasoline. Mine had it when I bought it. Some will tell you to replace it, others will say treat the fuel to Techron Plus, me I poured in a can of Seafoam. I let it sit for about a week (mine is not a daily driver). Then on my next trip the issue was resolved (at least for now).

Oh, welcome to CAC this is a great place for info and meet people who are fanatic about Corvettes.

Thanks, everyone has a solution. So far none have worked. I try this, it is cheaper than unit replacementr.

I use Techron Plus!:thumb My 03 C5 starts acting up when I have to buy 10% ethanol fuel in some states!! So far it's fixed it within 100 miles!!:thumb
I use Chevron Fuel most of the time if I can get it!!:thumb

If it is a sulpher build up problem on the sender card, then Techron Plus Concentrate will work if used properly. Make sure it is the Techron Plus Concentrate and not just the fuel system cleaner, the bottles look the same. Install the 20 oz bottle and fill the tank up, run the tank to as empty as possible without adding fuel as you don't want to dilute the mixture. You may have to do it through 2-3 consecutive tank fulls depending on the severity of the sulfer build up on the sender card. Using Top Tier fuel is your best defense against it happening again.
