Not saying you shouldn't buy from the owner.................just saying, I purchased a C5, 1998, with 6,384 miles on it in October, 2012. That's right, 6,384 miles. The original owner traded it in on a 2011 with only 4K miles.
Bottom line, the dealer where I purchased my C5 offered me a warranty that covers almost everything bumper to bumper, with the normal exceptions, i.e., brakes, tires, etc..
The platinum warranty cost me approximately, $2,800. A lot.......................However, in the nearly 6K miles I have put on it since purchasing it, I have had right in the neighborhood of $5,000 worth of warranty work completed. Even the 12 CD changer, which quit working, was covered.
Items from gaskets to door modules and door motors to the CD changer..........all covered. These parts weren't defective...........in my mind, they were just old.
Believe me, when I purchase my next Corvette, it will most likely be from a dealer who offers this kind of extended warranty.
