I just purchased a 2004 corvette with 25,000 miles all stock. I have read a lot of old posts about what is the best CAI. But would like to know more updated information on people personal preferences. Trying to stay around $300. Thanks for any help

I am totally sold on the K&N FIPK for the C5. I had one on my '04 vert and there's one on my Z16. A well engineered, quality made product with no worries about water ingestion. We were in Nashville during the floods during the Bash a few years ago and had zero water issues. Take a hard look at the design, you'll have to agree that it's the way to go! :thumb

Izzy, first off a big "WELCOME" is in order. :w Congrats on the purchase of the 04. C5's are great cars. I had the HalTech Stinger on my 01 and really liked it. :thumb

First of all, let's make sure we all understand that none of the above listed aftermarket air filter assemblies (ie: K&N FIPK, Blackwing and the "Stinger") are "cold air intake" kits because they do not draw intake air (ie: cold air) from outside the vehicle bodywork.

As for performance increase, the FIPK and the Blackwing are, under certain circumstances, capible of increasing performance. The amount of the performance increase will measureable is also modest.

The really good aftermarket air intake kits cost more than 300 bucks, unfortunately.

For a stock or near stock engine either the Blackwing or the FIPK are good choices.

I run a Halltech Killer Bee II conversion package on my '04 Z06. The engine is modified with high ratio rocker arms and dual valve springs and an X-pipe in the exhaust.

You can read a CAC product review of this product at:Killer Bee II Conversion Package - Corvette Product Reviews

The Halltech KB2 sells for more than $300 bucks but it works quite well.

Just to add, I also had an ECM retune to take advantage of the intake and exhaust I had done to the car.
