Had these two updates in my mailbox today:

Vaughn Chevrolet.Buick.Pontiac.GMC in Bunkie LA

They have 3 base 2004 coupes on the lot they want to move.
I contacted them for some details. Here is what they have.

2 Millennium Yellow Coupes
1 Machine Gray Coupe

All have automatic and base package MSRG 45,385

33,900.00

This is a steal for a new car. It could be worth the trip north.

Have GREAT news!!!
Bill Hood said that we have to sell all of our in stock 2004 Corvettes immediately. Therefore, Paul has authorized me to offer any club these awesome no hassle deals on our 4 in stock Corvettes. These deals are good at least until the end of the month. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at the dealership.

Price's are dropping!

Rain

The prices are dropping but they seem to be falling into a narrow band. Most dealers advertise low prices with rebates that you can only get if you are an alien.

They know exactly what you are going to pay at the end, the only thing is how they get there.

Forget the new C5's, the used ones are a better bet as long as you buy one with low miles (under 5000Miles per yr) and in terrific condition.

Anything else is foolish. Forget about the C5's with high mileage unless you cannot afford anything else. But at that point a cherry, low mileage C4 is a better bet.

As this winter comes on the used market will sink even further.

One more note, pass on any vette that is not 100% stock unless you were going to do the modifications yourself.

There was an add in the paper on the weekend at one of the local dealerships:

2 - 2004 Zo6 Commrative Editions $57,000 Cdn List was close to $85,500 Cdn

Too Many C5's

This weekend my club hosted a Corvette day at Englistown Raceway in New Jersey.

Boy l saw more C5's then anything else and they were in 95+ condition. I saw one that was a strange green and the owner said that they only del 400. What an ugly color.

I also saw a C4 that had the copper paint job and GM only del l believe 47 of them. The color was real neat.

Most of the C5's from 97 and up had very low mileage, in fact they had lower mileage then the late C4's.

Most of the C5's were garage queens, that is the car l will pcik up next, a garage queen.

I was helping run the cert of the drag racers and the gymkanna racers.

Great prices...if i didn't have one already I would get one now...

I was also told that new Vette prices were at a all time low, so I went to my local dealer (Not all that serious about making a purchase). I was given quotes in those ranges as well. Noticed a 2003 Millennum Yellow Z06 that had been on the dealers lot since new, now with 48 miles on it and made an offer of $40,000. It sure looks good beside the '68 but I now leave the garage lights on at night, I am afraid of waking up with a GEO or something there in the morning. But seriously, I know it is a great time look for deals.:)

Kingman, why do you say to pass on any vette that is not 100% stock? What could be better than already having that ridiculously heavy and restrictive exhaust already changed or maybe a nice air intake already done for you? To me that's called a bonus. If your thinking about resale or classic status, it's never gonna happen to the C5, there are simply too many of them. Nothing sweeter than going to look at a Vette and seeing $$$ worth of mods on the car. The seller always takes the hit. My triple black vert already had a nice twin cone air intake done with cold air screens, saved me about $450.

To Kingman, Englishtown:Did they let the C5 convertibles run more than once? Here in FL, at Moroso Park, I ran my 01 three times, and the last time I broke 14 seconds (13.5) and they said I couldn't run again without a rollbar; NHRA rules, supposedly.

I've been tracking z06's on ebay. The prices some of the people are looking for is close to what you can get on a new one at the dealerships. Add in any GM card bonus points and you can practicaly buy it for the price of a 2 year old one. I think the prices will fall even harder when the market for c6 becomes more abundant. I'm thinking and waiting with baited breath.

It's apparently very different around SE Virginia. A guy who called about my 2002 coupe said local dealers were demanding MSRP for their remaining 2004s! Can't imagine what they are asking for a 2005, if they have one. (Timing is everything--I had been out of town, and the buyer had already purchased another 2002 by the time I got his message and returned his call. :( )

Cheers, Andy
