2004 Fuel Filter

HI there,
Oh, there are fuel filters on all c5 that you can change, up until about 111,000 in the 2003 production year.
Then, the FFS fuel system was introduced.
The IN TANK filter is now used and is no longer serviceable.
Allthebest, c4c5

Thanks. On C5's that have a fuel filter where is it located?(just ????):beer

For serviceable fuel filters on C5s, they are on the driver's side towards the rear of the car, above the tranny housing.

You do not have one.
Yes you do.
For MY04, it's inside the tank. See FSM pg 6-996, bottom left.

Other model years of C5 may have it in the location listed in the post just above.

For '04, GM says there's no service interval but, seeems to me I once heard of a PN for it because, there are situations, admittedly abnormal, where one would replace that item.

Problem is, you gotta pull the left tank to change it.

Ugh.

And these little things aren't cheap. Anywhere
from $37.00 to $52.00 aftermarket. And the dealers
are getting as much as $75.00.

Actually even if the fuel filter retail dealer price is $75, thats pretty cheap compared to the prices of other Vette parts, right?:thumb

I just changed the FF on my 98. I have an automatic so once I loosened the sway bar and removed 4 bolts to get the catback out of my way I could get to it. Just be careful, the gas will flow when you start pulling the lines off. The one pictured above is a little different then what is on the 97-98. It has just one connection on each end and is somewhat cheaper then 99-early03. I got my ACDelco filter at O'Reilly for $15.

would it be worth putting an in line filter of some sort on an 04 ?

All this and that doesn't include the cost of labor to install. :ohnoes
