I just got my notice of recall on lower control arm washers. If the washers are replaced does the car need an alignment? Logic tells me that it should be aligned but my dealer will not committ. Also the notice reads that vettes will have the rear washers replaced . Does not this mean that a full four wheel alignment is required?
Thanks

I just got mine also and I would like to hear the correct answer too...:upthumbs

HI there,
The washers and retainment nuts are located on the inner side of the spindles.
They will simply remove the washers and nuts and then reinstall new ones and torque to specifications.
There is NOT any removal of the lower ball joint stud from the actual control arms, nor is there any removal of the actual spindle.
Remove, install and torque is all that is required.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you...:)

I spoke with the technican who will replace the washers. He told me the same as c4c5.
However he did add "if the ball joint comes apart it will have to be changed ,but he had not had that happen yet".
He also suggested a alignment because the factory setup has negative camber (?) for max at the limit cornering. He suggests zero for max tire wear. What do you think?
THANKS for the info on the recall.
