OK...I'll take some flak...

As much as I love seeing the Corvette dominate the class, it was only after Dodge bowed out. I will be more impressed if/when the Viper returns to the fold. If the C6R can holds its own then, then I'll be more impressed.

It wasn't Corvette's fault that Viper "bowed out", or maybe it was. Whatever the reason the vettes are dominating their class and that's a good thing. If Chrysler thought they could win every race they'd be there too. We have tickets for Sebring and can't wait to the yellow cars win another race.

That's just it! If I recall reading correctly (in various rags), The Dodge team/drivers pretty much got bored with the dominance. There was no challenge. (And I believe that the race program wasn't really helping Viper sales at all. They were already expensive, race-prepped cars right off the showroom floor.) So Dodge pulled out. Kinda the same reason Cadillac pulled out, except the opposite. They weren't winning. :L

All good points - But the race prepped Vipers, Cadillacs and even the C-6 vettes are nothing like the street versions. Same as nascar. I'm not sure how many vette owners pay any real attention to the racing series anyway. That old "race on Sunday - sell on Monday" theme has kinda faded. Not like that 1960 Pontiac my Dad bought. Fireball Roberts had door handles and real bumpers just like Dad.

More important I'm going to enjoy the drive to Florida and watching the races. If a Ferrari wins I won't be buying one on the way home:L Or maybe.........

I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that the Dodge Boys pulled out after the 2nd or 3rd year that the C5-R began it's dominence in the ALMS. I find it hard to believe that any race team would get bored with winning. Were they tired of standing in line at the bank to cash their prize winning checks?

We went to Laguna Seca ALMS last October and watched the yellow cars dominate with a 1-2 finish. The viper in that race broke after 40+ laps, but wasn't even a contender before that. The Saleen came in 3rd. but had been lapped many times. In the last 4 years, I don't see the GM boys getting bored with winning. They don't mind at all blowing everyone's doors off :D .
