4+3/T10 Transmision In 93 C4 Vette?

Hello,

I am new to the CAC and was wondering if someone could tell me if a 4+3/T10 transmission will fit into a newer 89-96 style C4 corvette? The reason why I ask is that I am currently reviewing options to resolve an ongoing ZF6 problem. The car makes too much HP and keeps breaking the ZF.

So I am thinking about using a T10 transmission w/modified tail housing to support the corvette Dana 44 C-Brace/torque arm. I currently have a stock bell housing/w McLeod street twin clutch and a ZF6 speed. I would like to replace the ZF with something else here are my options assuming that this will work.

1. Build ZF (Recommended by HIB)
2. Replace ZF with Road Race T10
3. Replace ZF with Richmond/G-Force transmission
4. ?

I really want to stay with a manual tranny so an auto is not an option at this point. If anyone is interested in the details of the car check out www.jdhcon.com/vette.

Another motivator is the ZF is too hard to work on... I want something I can tare down myself and fix when I break it!

Thanks,
Doug
P.S. Hib I know that you have been relaying this topic already through allen! Thanks.

I can't answer your question regarding whether or not it's feasible to swap the trans for a DN 4+3, but I can express my satisfaction with switching to a ROD 6-Speed from a perfectly good :eyerole 4+3. The Richmond units appear to be something you can work on too. :upthumbs

For some reason the board software linked the . on the end of the URL remove the . e.g. www.jdhcon.com/vette no . and it should be fine. Thanks for the comment.

i have a 4+3 in my vette. I almost hate the d--n thing. The gear selsctors are weak, i have broke a couple of them, When i was putting in my performance clutch it was complete hell b/c i was doing it by myself, it is pretty heavy w/ the OD unit on the back of it. If you OD unit goes out you should just forget fixxing that (i have heard horror stories) If you are changing from a ZF it is supposed to be a direct replacement, i was told that from other people who own vettes. You will have to wire in an OD button, or switch, then you may have to modify the reverse lights wiring. The drive shaft is supposed to be the same length, but i am not sure if it has the same yoke. One thing that i would reccommend instead of the 4+3 is an automatic...yes, an auto. easier take off, they are cheap, strong, and simple to install. At any rate it is your call. I will list below a few sources to check into for pricing, and parts.
