4+3 Trans

I like the 4+3 better than the newer

I miss the kickdown after switching the tranny's wiring.

Also, I much prefer the kickdown over the later trannies, and will dispute claims that the unit is problematic and/or to be avoided.

4+3

Probably because it's different year,88 vs 84, but my 88 kicksdown with the jumoered switch. Muddywaters

Please let me know where this switch is located and exactly what gets jumpered, Thks, charlesbrown

4+3

Disconnect battery (I always disconnect, necessary or not). Last switch on tranny, linkage side, disconnect wires and tape ends and secure out of harms way. I'm not sure if the switch has male or female connections on the tranny, make a simple loop and jump the switch. (Short wire ). I got the info from this website. Did it wrong the first time, lost speedo, got it right with no ill effects, so please be careful. Muddywaters

BTW, I have thousands of miles on the 4+3 with 500+ ft.lbs. of torque through this 'weak' tranny. IMHO, the only better choice is a paddle shift 6-speed.

While a relatively rare tranny, there are some knowledgeable experts on the unit. Not every 'Joe' can work on it, nor understand it.
