4 speed conversion - CE

Any thoughts out there on converting an 82 Collector's Edition to 4 speed transmission? I recognize it as quite a chore and could have detrimental impact on the "value" of the CE package, but I'm tired of the automatic. I'm even willing to pay a professional to do the job.

What say, C3 fans??

I would change it to a tremec 5 speed instead. Both trannies will be a project so you might as well do it right with a 5 speed.

yes, do it right and do a 5 or 6 speed. Same amount of work, more gears.
You will need to replace the pedal box and cut the floor for the shifter There are aftermarket transmissions that are nearly bolt in or bolt in (keisler), you do need to regear the diff tho since yours is set up with granny gears for the 700R4.

My thought: Sure, go for it. It's YOUR car.. And if you want a Manual Shift, absolutly. Good luck with the work though, sounds like your in for a lot of work.
