Just yesterday I was driving my pace car through Rochester Mi. when I saw the '53 retro car. It is unmistakable. It was parked on the street infront of a restaurant or bar. Really an eye catcher. But why is such a rare car just being driven around on a Sunday evening??? Is Chevy trying to drum up some public opinion?? Wondeer who was driving it?? Probably no exec or magazine officials on a Sunday at 8:30 at night, right??

The '53 car is a striking, fun design but certainly not easily adptable to federal compliance - bumpers. You probably saw fellow vette owner doing what we all like to do - enjoy our cars. He was probably sitting inside looking out when you drove by and said, "Why is that guy driving a pace car around putting miles on it on a Sunday night?"

There is a company in Rochester Hills that is doing the conversion(Advanced Automotive Technologies). You give them a new or used C-5 and $25,000 and they give you a new '53'. The car has been at the Woodward Dream Cruise the last two years in front the Auto Zone(auto memrobilia not auto parts) at 14 mile and Woodward. I know the owners and they are building them as fast as they can. There is a lot of interest in owning this car. Check out their web site aatcars.com

Hi
Yes, I did some research on it and found out the same info-
I am friends with someone where the prototype was made, he was under the impression it was in federal safety standards for the bumper.

also i dont think G.M. is endorsing these cars, basicly a kit car, theres one on the island and the guy cant even sell one,he sells lots of vettes.i dont care for them.later.Todd

Someone in our club has a 53 kit car. He has updated wheels though. Kinda looks wrong in red/ white coves... His real 57, 59, 61, 62, 95, 00, 02 Anniv. look pretty good, though.
