I have a 94 LT1 w/6speed and it runs great when I'm just tooling along, but when I get on it I get a grind going from 1st to 2nd I was told it was probably the syncros in the Tranny? Assuming that's true , is it expensive to fix? I is common to get a manual tranny serviced, as you can see I don't know much about this so I could use all the help I can get.
thanks a heep!

I would first change the tranny fluid and use the Castrol 10w-60 synthetic. It is made for BMW M5 motors, but recommended by ZF. Get it at your bmw dealer - pn:07510009420. It takes 2.2 quarts and costs about $9.xx. I did mine at 30k miles and it fixed my mild/occasional grinding.

Then bleed the clutch assembly using gm clutch fluid. You may just need to replace your slave and/or master clutch cylinder too. Your last resort is to replace the synchros as it is very expensive.

If its fine under normal driving, you probably don't need to change the synchros and one of the other suggestions will fix your problem.

I'll do it...............THANKS!:beer
