Hello, All,

Could anyone out there give me an idea how much a bare 63 Corvette convertible body (with doors) weighs?

I am preparing to lift my 63 body off of the frame (using a 4-point body strap), and I would like to know how much it weighs, so I can evaluate my options.

Any and all information and commentary on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Can't tell you exactly but I took the body off my 61 and I would guess it weighs about 450#s with the doors, hood, trunk & deck lid. I would think yours would probably be in the same ball park.

I lifted my complete 64 vert body with the 4 point strap and an engine crane without any undue excitement. Lifted it again onto my homemade body dolly with a 2 ton chain fall fastened to my garage rafters. Remember to support the rear of the body with some sort of extra strap as there is no birdcage behind the doors. You'll notice the gaps get significanly wider if you don't do this. Almost looks like the back half will break off. Coupes do not have this issue as the roof holds everything together.
