For those of you not familiar with my plight, it all started way back in February 2002! I've been slowly rebuilding this engine piece by piece. When it was in the machine shop I had just about everything done that you could have done to a BB, including, but not limited to: align hone, bored 0.060, magnafluxed, dipped & washed, cam bearings and I forget the rest.

I bought and installed the pieces as time and money would allow. Today I had to recruit my wife and daughter to complete the installation. The engine & tranny are in and bolted down. I installed the engine and tranny together. I removed the left front wheel & tire, the radiator and radiator support to provide enough clearance. During the installation, I found that I had to remove the drivers exhaust manifold to get it to clear.

There's nothing that screams BB like those huge orange valve covers. Through the years I never thought this day would come. Still lots of work to finish.

Here's where it began, a 4 bolt 454 Mark IV from an '87 Suburban:

Fantastic, Len. Excellent work.

I'll bet those heads, intake, carb and water pump didn't come from a Suburban. ;)
Thanks Bob, did you fire your 502 yet?

I still have the side exhaust to bolt on and a bunch of other items to finish. Maybe I'll be ready in a month or so.

Nice Len...!!!

I'll be doing that this coming winter...(ZZ454/440Hp). Couldn't tell excatly by the pic's ..but are you using the stock cast iron exhaust manifolds?

Your car looks great....:_rock

That is just one beautiful Corvette!!! Wow, that has to be satisfying to see that engine finally in place.

Gaining on 67???????????

No worries, my parrot can walk faster than his standing model!!!!!!!!!

:L

I spent half the summer in '02 preparing my '69 after it had been in storage for 12 years for a 300 mile one way event in September. Last August, probably 6 weeks and this year, 4 weeks. HTF you guys keep your sanity working on a Corvette longer than that is way beyond me! I give you guys a lot of credit. That, or you're completly nuts to start with!

I vote option 'B' (completely nuts to start with). Each step forward becomes it's own reward but the last 10% takes the longest.

Looks great, Len!!

Len, what fuel pump is that and did you paint it aluminum color? I have to do something with my fuel lines and what you have done is just about what I would like. Good luck with it. It looks great.

Eddie, it's a standard BB Carter fuel pump from Sumitt. No, I didn't paint it, that's the way it came.
