What would cause a speedometer to bounce up and down while driving? It will finally settle down after driving a constant speed, but even then I don't think its accurate.

Thanks

A dry cable.Im not sure what to lube it with but that would do it.Maybe try some wd40.

My '77 speedo starts bouncing at 70 MPH. Until then, its nice and steady.

Also, my odometer doesn't work at all. I thought the speedo & odometer used the same cable.

Anybody got any ideas about that?

Mike

Hi

The short cable is for trip odometer reset.
I guess, if it's not reset properly, it will keep the trip odometer diengaged/inop.
My trip odometer works, but can not be reset naymore.
I had no time yet, but thibk it's the reset cable at fault.

Good luck. Gunther
