68 versus 69 Hood Latches

Hi all;
Apparently none of the Corvette makers make the hood latch for the 68 & 69 Vettes. There is a set for 69 on ebay for sale, but I need to know if someone can tell me if the 68 and 69 latches are the same? Here is th ebay link to the ones I wanna get:

Well, I thought this was going to be an easy one to answer.

I've got a 68 with a 72 bigblock hood and an original 68 small block hood, my brother has a 69.

I took the latches from my 72 hood and my 68 hood and brought them down to my brothers to compare.

All I can say is they all seem inter-changeable, the bolt holes all line up and they look the same as well.

I don't know if this makes you feel any better, but I'd buy the ones you gave the link to.

According to ZIP, the latches are different. They don't list a '68 part.

But, Mid-America Motorworks (a CAC Supporting Vendor) sells an interesting set of special hood latches that makes the C3 hood instantly removable. :eek

I BELIEVE so.
I had a 68 vert which was a mess of later C3 parts when I bought it, including a later hood and missing vacuum wiper door setup, so I've spent a lot of time in this area bringing the car back.

Unfortunately, its been about 8 years since I sold the car so I'm not 100% sure.

Be careful though! I'm sure that you know the 68 model has a LOT of one year parts, inside and out.

No problem at all, just had to dig out the original hood and make a short trip to my brothers.

I just hope that my info. holds true.

Thanks Rui but this isn't what I need... I'm looking for the plates that bolt to each side of the back of the hood that actually allow it to clamp.

Be aware that L88 hood latches are different. You only end up getting 3 bolts in, and they are a ***** to align. One of these days I'll get reall L88 latches. For now, these will do.
