As my current soft top weatheristripping on my 69 convertible is in dire need of replacement, I have checked out Ecklers, Mid America, Corvette America, etc.. web sites for prices and was wondering which suppiler folks recommend for weatherstripping? Also a friend of mine said it was not as easy to replace as it looks. Any pointers walking into the project? Thanks for any and all assistance!!

Most of corvette weatherstrip is manufacturered by Corvette Rubber. The Last Detail usually has the best prices on it.Search them on the web,I promise theyll be cheaper than the other places you mentioned.
As far as the installation, its not that bad.I suggest using clear adhesive. Its usually available at paintstores or maybe auto part stores. If you cant find clear use yellow.Get some help cause once its on it aint comin off.

I like to use the 3m black since the rubber is black but, to each his own. The front header and rear bow is the hardest. Remember the new rubber will rip easy. They make a plastic tool you might call it a knife it is thin and smooth but not sharp. The sides are cake just try to remember where they are at and leave them a tad lose because they are adjustable. Before you tighten them down roll your windows up and check them adjust them as needed. Use a dollar bill; close it between the weather strip and the glass, it should pull out snug. Then close the door and make sure the window rolls up correctly. If everything is fit then tighten them down. Remember to have plenty of rags or paper towels because the adhesive is stringy. Hope this helps some :)

Thanks! The last detail web site prices are drastically cheaper than the others. Assuming everything is the same quality, I'll be purchasing from there for now on. I'm just starting my 'cosmetic improvements' and will be slowly dropping lots of spare change to some company.
Just finishing up the mechancial needs this week. Putting on new composite rear spring, bushings, etc... Been having a weird transmission issue that Corvettes Only Denver is checking out for me. I keep slipping out of 2nd when hot and have to sometimes massage 1st a bit on the downshift hot or cold. I'm letting the experts look into that one.

On your transmission issue either your linkage is out of adjustment or you may need a first gear synchronizer and or a second gear. The only thing that causes it to pop out of gear is either the linkage is not engaging it all the way, easy fix or the 2nd gear is bad from someone speed shifting. The teeth where synchronizer sets wear and will not hold it in gear when you let off of the pressure or gas pedal and then it pops out of gear.
:)

popping out of gear

My 2nd or 3rd gear (can't remember now) would pop out when I first bought the vehicle. It was simply a mechanical clearance problem with the linkage. Easy fix.
