I am looking for a 69, and they are EXTREMELY difficult to find, especially in a 4 spd! I was considering transferring an auto trans to a 4 spd... Any thoughts or experiences are greatly appreciated! ;shrug

You should be patient, but if you are planning on owning this Vette for a long time (like forever...like most of us :D), then you should do what you want to do. Any car is worth in value what it is worth to you.

Good luck, and there are many threads in the Mod board on conversions. Take a search, and you will find bundles of information. :D

Patience my young one. :)

I thought the majority of those 38000 69's were 4 speeds. ;shrug

Good luck.

You can convert an auto car to a manual transmission. In some ways, the auto frame is actually superior to the manual frame.

If you find a '69 that is already not original, then there is no reason not to make it a bit more different. But I wouldn't take a perfectly restored '69 and start changing major components like that.

Check with Chris (69MyWay) about the conversion. His '69 ("Killer") is really an impressive piece of work, and was destined for the grave before he rescued it, so it's not like he hacked up a perfectly restored one :)

You could also just replace the valvebody in the auto trans with a manual valvebody, if you felt like it. That would give you a "sort of" manual transmission, and could be converted back to stock with little effort.
