1969 R.Gold CV. Original 8K miles. Pilot 1970 LT1
I have a 1970 LT1 coupe, car # 00006, Ontario Orange, documented as a pilot car. This car wsa owned by an employee of DeNooyer Chevrolet in Kalamazoo, MI, named John Coe. Mr. Coe worked in the parts department and was a member of the Kalamazoo Corvette Club. He used the car for auto cross racing. He stored the car in a building in Schoolcraft, MI from 1977 until October 25, 2001, when the tornadoes hit the town. Then sold the car to a friend. I am trying to find out some earlier history about the car when it was used as a pilot car. I believe the car was pictured on the cover and back page of Corvette News Feb/Mar 1970 issue. If anyone can provide some information please contact me @ 407 322 8388. It is also believe that this could be the first LT1 off the production line. Car # 00001 was sold at Berger Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, MI to corporate employee, silver base coupe. Car # 4 is a convertible 350/350, maroon color. Any help is appreciated.

There is an orange LT-1 coupe on the front and rear cover of the Feb/Mar 1970 Corvette News. There is also an article on driving it in the January snow written by Karl Ludvigsen, including several pictures, one of which is of when he slid the car off the road into a snowbank. The license plate is Michigan LYZ-193.

You certainly have an impressive pair of cars, there, 8kgold69. Where do you find a '69 with only 8K? Gee-good for you! :)

I am sorry I can't help you with your inquiry, but I am interested in what you may know of DeNooyer Chevrolet. My car was sold new at that dealership, on June 23, 1972, to a Mr. Phillip W. Dooley. My interest is because it was special ordered with a red vinyl interior. Targa Blue cars normally had blue or black interiors. I am also trying to find out more about it's early history.

If by any chance you might have any information, I sure would appreciate it. Thank you. :upthumbs
