I have a 72 Coupe/Automatic/AC that I purchased last year. While restoring the interior I stripped it down to the bare glass and metal, threw most of it away and started anew. When I stripped the rear compartment down, I could not locate the REAR PLENUM AIR DOOR. There were no vacuum hoses, no actuator assembly, no doors... nothing except a fiberglass plenum underneath the vent grilles with drain hoses extending into each rear wheelwell. The plenum has no holes in it where the vent doors would have been. The 72 Corvette service manual shows this system on both the Coupe and Conv models, but makes no mention if it is left off other models or option lists. I thought that all 72s had pneumatic vent door control for the rear compartment. Or was it an AC only addition? If so, do I have an AC added car? It sure looks stock..(and works great). Can anyone set me straight? Thanks.
